Hogwarts Legacy Review

I do have to say that Hogwarts Legacy is a good game. Though it’s a good game, I did find there are a few issues with it that felt like it took away from turning it into an amazing game on the level Red Dead Redemption 2 is for me. Though that is an unfair comparison as well in my eyes simply because of genre differences. Unfortunately, I don’t have any recent fantasy games to compare it to making recent titles the only fair comparison.

To try and keep my negative opinions to a minimum, there is one key point that I wanted to touch on in this way that could have been worked on better, and that’s the battling system in place. The spells themselves, of course, are not what I refer to as they are the basis for the world of Harry Potter. Instead, it deals with Hogwarts Legacy using a leveling system. This, I feel, isn’t right for the game that has a heavy emphasis on magic. Instead, the best way that they could have dealt with it is set the enemies to a general difficulty throughout the games and have certain upgrades the player can choose that will benefit the spells they decide to place their focus on whenever they fight. This would have benefited the game more as it would have seen the player figure out how to deal with a certain mission based on the path of spell and boosts they’ve chosen instead of level-based enemies.

With that little rant on what could have been done better for the game, I would like to say that it is my own opinion on how the game should have focused on it. I’m sure there are others able to enjoy this path better than I could have.
